OVERVIEW

UES, Inc. a BlueHalo Company has an opportunity available for a Research Scientist to join our ceramics and composites team at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL).  The position focuses on chemical vapor deposition (CVD) of ceramic coatings and matrices, along with processing and characterization of deposited materials.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The ideal candidate will have a background in CVD, with an emphasis in hands-on experience.  Knowledge of building and maintenance of CVD units preferred. The position requires working closely with government and contract researchers within the research team and with other research teams.  We are particularly interested in a highly motivated, adaptable, and capable individual with an M.S. or PhD. in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related fields.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL BRING

  • M.S. or PhD (within 6 months) in Materials Science & Engineering, Ceramic Engineering or a related field
  • Experience in CVD processes and material characterization
  • Ability to learn and develop new approaches and techniques
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • This position will require a self-motivated individual with good interpersonal skills and careful attention to details
  • Adaptable to varying program objectives
  • This position is working within a government facility and requires U.S. Citizenship

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of building and maintenance of CVD systems
  • Experience with CVD of various materials, including carbon, boron nitride, etc.
  • Characterization of materials
