OVERVIEW

BlueHalo has an immediate need for a Materials Engineer focused in Cement and Construction Applications.  An ideal candidate would be a materials or civil engineer with strong knowledge of concrete and structural material development and use.  The successful candidate will join the Biomanufacturing and Nanoscale Department, supporting application development of a novel concrete material.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

This role will be integral in determining the formulation and application methodology of this material for concrete platforms, crack filling, and a variety of other applications, including non-traditional uses of cement.  This role will establish perform design of experiment (DOE) methodology to establish product specifications and application protocols.

 

This role is part of a multi-disciplinary team with diverse opportunities for professional development.  The product on which this role focuses is an alternative to traditional cement which greatly reduces the carbon requirements of creating concrete materials.  Excellent communication and a willingness to collaborate are imperative.  This is an opportunity for a motivated individual to be at the foundation of a growing team in the rapidly growing biomanufacturing field.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field is required; master’s degree preferred
  • 5 years of experience developing prototypes, conducting DoE and developing test matrixes
  • Knowledge of material testing and standards, preferably with cement / concrete or similar materials
  • Experience in designing experiments to challenge material attributes and use
  • Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with productivity software suites (Microsoft Office, Google Suite) used for email, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, cloud file sharing, and virtual meetings
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Willingness to collaborate and work with other scientists and engineers

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with biomanufacturing processes including fermentation
  • Previous research experience
  • Experience servicing equipment and/or instruments
