UES, an Eqlipse Company, has an opportunity available for an experienced optics testing professional to lead and advance our optics testing capabilities at our facility located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. This role is ideal for an individual with 5+ years of optics lab experience, extensive knowledge of optical material characterization techniques, and the ability to manage lab activities and personnel efficiently.


  • Develop and execute optical characterizations tests, both routine and custom, utilizing in-depth knowledge of lasers, measurement techniques, and sophisticated optical instruments.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of personnel and instruments/test-beds to ensure timely completion of testing.
  • Oversee the organization and recording of experimental data; use of analytical tools to extract meaningful insights; and preparation of comprehensive reports and presentations for team review.
  • Work closely with a cross-functional team of government, contractor, and subcontractor personnel, providing technical expertise and guidance. Foster a collaborative environment for the exchange of ideas and knowledge.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in handling Class 4 lasers and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Implement and promote a culture of safety within the testing environment.
  • Maintain detailed and meticulous records and ensure that all testing procedures are well-documented and accessible for future reference.


  • This position involves working within a government facility and requires U.S. Citizenship
  • Active Secret Security Clearance (or ability to obtain one)
  • MS in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electro-Optics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in an optics laboratory setting.
  • Experience working with Class 4 lasers and other optical systems.
  • Proficiency in experimental design, setup, and execution.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis software.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain schedules, lab space and digital resources.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining comprehensive and accurate records.
