OVERVIEW

UES, an Eqlipse Company has an opportunity available for a detail-oriented researcher to join our team working within the 711th Human Performance Wing at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

This position requires a strong molecular biology background to support screening, selection, and characterization of biorecognition elements (peptide and oligonucleotide-based aptamers) for biosensor development. Knowledge of techniques (SELEX, phage display to select recognition elements) is beneficial but not essential. Functions for this role will include:

 

  • Designing, executing, and interpreting results from laboratory experiments related to the screening, selection, and characterization of biorecognition elements.
  • Maintaining laboratory notebook as a detailed log of experiments, results, and ongoing research
  • Presenting results of research at lab meetings and conferences and writing reports for internal communications and peer-reviewed publications
  • Assisting with lab planning, equipment calibration and maintenance and restocking supplies

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL BRING

  • This position is working within a government facility and requires U.S. Citizenship
  • M.S. or B.S. in biology, biochemistry, or related field and 2 years experience.
  • Hands-on experience in standard biochemistry and molecular biology techniques (e.g., nucleic acid extraction and purification, cloning, PCR, primer design, gel electrophoresis, ELISA, western blotting)
  • Knowledge of aptamer discovery, SELEX, in vitro evolution, DNA/RNA library screening, and binding characterization using isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) or biolayer interferometry (BLI)
  • Experience with Python or R programming languages
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment

 

Preferred:

  • Experience writing manuscripts as demonstrated through co-authorship on a peer-reviewed manuscrip
